Unique Times

I spent a good portion of the day counting. Yes counting. Counting what you ask - well yardage. It seems every skein I have dyed has a different yardage - not just alittle different but ALOT different! They are all 4 oz but the yardage varies from 360 to over 600 - big deal right! The difference between a pair of sock and a shawl! It was something of a shock to say the least! So I spent all afternoon counting the yardage of every skein of yarn. Not how I wanted to spend the day!

On good news front - I got a job - I start Monday at 9am. Team Lead for petco - a little less money then what I was making but it should be less stressful!

I wanted to have a few pictures for you of the new yarns I dyed and the sweater I'm knitting but it didn't work out today - to busy counting!
So tomm I'll post pics!

New Puppy

So I have a new puppy. He is a 4 month old chihuahua pup. His name is Mr Bean - i know weird, but it was what came out my mouth every time I called him. He is alot of fun - into everything, but always upbeat and funny! He came from a not so good situation and was afraid of everything for the first week, didn't even know what grass was. It was a challenge - but not nearly as bad as I was expecting.

I got my 2nd woolgirl sock club kit - it's frogs! It's very unique! I love all the extras.
I have been sick for the last 5 days and feel like CRAP!!! I am very tired of being sick. So I am going back to bed!

WELLLLLLL

Well - it's been a rough two weeks. It started with my manager being on vacation and me running the store which went fine. Only the last day, the last hour of my shift the district manager came down and FIRED me. It seems I am insubordinate. I said were people could hear one too many times that my manager was wrong, or that I would fix whatever she had messed up on. Was a very odd conversation because the DM told me 3 times she hoped this didn't make me dislike starbucks, and if I ever decided to come back - how exactly do you go back to work for a company that fired you?

It was weird! Anyway, I went on vacation to the outer banks with my sister, nieces and mom. We had a great time and I only got alittle burned - from ankles to knees. No one was too bad, and no one got in a fight. With 5 females in one house I thought that was really good!

Now I'm back - I'm okay about the no job thing. I'm working on my resume and applying for a couple jobs - just part time stuff. I really don't know that I want to go back to the stress and uncertainty that my last job caused in me - it put me in a really dark place and made me doubt myself. I want something part time to pay the bills and let me have some free time to myself. I want to take some time to figure out what I want. I think I'll learn to make cakes.

Actual Knitting

It's the Baby Bolero from One Skein - okay so Wendy knitted the jacket and I only did the edging - BUT I KNIT ON IT! Lol. It's going to my cousin who just had alittle girl on Saturday night - emergency c-section. Paloma Jean. Enought said. I'm working on another little jacket to go with this one, but it's not ready to be pictured yet.

Worked a split double yesterday - and am still very tired. I think I'll do some dyeing and hang around the house today. I'm working on some pretty solid colors - I'm kind of tired of multi colors and find myself knitting with alot more solids. Or one color solid for the body and a completely different color for heel and toe. Like my Easter socks - I'll post them next time! I was thinking about kits for my Etsy shop with contrast heel and toe. I usually don't like toe and heel to match - I like that jarrrrrr of color to shake things up! Ummm maybe I'll work on that today!

Alpaca

A picture of the alpaca - for some reason Blogger wouldn't let me put it in the last post!

Not What I Was Expecting

You ever have things turn out not like you were expecting? Maybe when cooking? My grandma made great pancakes for us kids one time - we loved them and she was really embarrassed - she forgot the baking soda - rubber pancakes that all us kids LOVED! The yarn I dyed today was like that - NOT WHAT I EXPECTED! The bamboo came out well - you decide - I think HORRID! But what do I know, people love all kinds of things I don't.

But I did a skein of Suri alpacca and BFL that I love so much I may not give it up if it sells! But wasn't what I was trying to get either!

Newly Dyed

A new pic to look at. I dyed this yesterday and have to say it's one of the first to come out and I really like it. It's a suri alpaca and wool blend. I never knit with my own dyed yarn, but maybe this.

Been Too Long

So I know it's been a very long time since I posted and alot has happened in the last year and a half! I have moved not once but twice - once across the country. I got a promotion at work. My grandfather died - it was a very rough time - he was part of the move across country. I got rid of the guys that were around, I lost friends, gained close friends and basically survived a year! Which is all you can ask for in life! My knitting has improved alot! I am dyeing my own yarn. The one on the left I did - the right is a sock yarn - the name is in the other room - but it's the aracunia? ranco multi from chili. The spelling may be off. Not bad for an experiment, mom will probably get it, she wants to knit a pair of Firstarters in bright colors and this is bright! Not really my colors but it wasn't for me. Robin (http://www.fortheloveoffiber.typepad.com/) and I started a Knitting group at Starbucks - we meet on Mondays from 6-8ish, it's been a really good way to meet alot of really nice ladies! I went bowling for the first time since I was like 10 or 12 - it really was fun! Thanks Wendy for taking me!

You ever have one of those days where everything is normal - but it's a good day? You know you get up early, make a list of things to do, run errands, get a hair cut ( that was really nice it was driving me CRAZY) enjoy the not great weather - and go to bed content? You just feel mellow and relaxed? Even went you do something VERY stressful in the middle of it all, afterward your just content - you know that whatever happens, happens and for the first time in a long time your really giving your problems up to god - not that you won't work hard to fix them, but that the worry falls away, and you know he has a plan? That was me the other day. It made me realize the amount of stress and worry I was living under everyday, every hour, and that i didn't have to! It's like your running so hard for a hole in the wall in front of you and someone says "what wall - look open space" it's another way of looking at things that I want to keep!
Okay enough! I sound all sad and for the first time in awhile I'M NOT!!!!!
YEA ME!!!

I'm for bed - been up since 5 am and need to crash - it makes me odd!

Oh WELL

Well some good intentions just dont work out. I really ment to start writing, but I GOT a PROMOTION! Yea me. Only they didnt tell me the promotion required me to move - again, and then open a new store all on my own, with no training help, no advice and no idea what i was doing. But I did it and now things have slowed down and I am working on my knitting again. I did manage a trip to the yarn stores in Greensboro over my birthday, not what I was expecting, but after what like 12 stores over 5 days in New York City, nothing looks as good.
I'm working on a Wisp from Knitty, in Knit Picks Alpacca Cloud Midnight . I really like it, I'll post pictures as soon as I can get the camera to work.

A Good Day

It was a good day. Went to my cousin's new place(her and her husband just seperated and it's tough on her) to see her and my sister who was in town for 2 days from Georgia, then all my other cousins and my aunt and uncle showed up - so we had 10 or 11 adults and 7 kids in a small 2 bedroom apartment. Everyone got along and had a good time. Taught my 4 year old neice to knit, she is getting better at holding the needles. Mom had been to their house after christmas and taught the older niece to knit and told the younger she was too young. I think 4 is old enough! So we taught her yesterday, she was sooo thrilled. She sat and worked and tried long after I thought she would be bored. Now the funny part in my sister doesn't know how to knit, so she'll end up learning to help the lit bit. Not much happening other then that, lots of food, lots of people, lots of kids and niose. I don't think we have all been in the same room since - well maybe a funeral a couple years ago. Dang been awhile! I did start the second in a pair of fingerless mitts, and got hand sizes of a bunch of people since I seem to be on a glove kick.
Heading to the scrapbook store later - even though I don't scrapbook, the other females in the family do.

Will Try To Be Better

So I'm going to try to post more often! Seems like the move, getting settled in and everything at work as really knocked me out of my groove. Not to mention the upper respiratory infection that still hasn't completely gone away. The only good news is I have been knitting! I'll try to get pictures up later. I've done a couple pairs of fingerless gloves and right now am half way through a set of fingerless mitts of my own design. I was going to put cables on them and got so caught up in the pattern I forgot!!! I also have done a bunch of hats and a few other projects for other people. I'm starting today a sweater from the new interweave knits(which I have to say other then the pictures in the front and pattern in the back I really like!So much easier to find things and the ads are beautiful!) I realized I'm using alot of !!! but I'm So wound up this morning! I really want to go to New York to see the Yarn Harlot but don't think I can afford the trip. Plane is only $149 to fly but the hotel, and then all the yarn stores I would have no choice but to visit - so much money just there!
Well family is in town today so off to shower and get ready for that!

So Sorry

So very sorry I haven't posted in quite awhile. It seems like life has become very odd. I work, not to hard it seems, I go home, I exist. Had an odd night last night and may have caused a guy to get fired - SO NOT MY FAULT!!!! How was I to know he hadn't told the boss when he was hired he was on probation! I mean come on! You have to tell they if you have been arrested! Felt bad til I got home and saw him on the computer - and what he was charged with. Now - it's his own fault!

On to other things - has a Doctor's apt today, all good and he gave me muscle relaxers for my shoulder. He did say it was expensive but that it wouldn't knock me out if I took it - which I think is well worth it!

Computer dying gotta go!

Live life

I've been thinking about my life lately, all the things happening lately, the move, the new store, learning about my promotion, seeming to get my life in some kind of order. Yet it feels incomplete. Like there is a big hole with something missing. Now I am not one of those girls who has to have a guy, ask anyone I tend to go awhile between dates, my choice. I have found that I am happy without a guy they just add drama, but sometimes I need drama. Life otherwise can get boring. So lately I've been thinking about all the guys that have passed through my life and what they ment to me. Some at the time seemed so important, life changing, that looking back I can't for the life of me even remember what I saw in them. Others that I held at arms length, and never let anything develop - are more important - should I have let things develop, what if? One stands out, been thinging about him alot lately, what if? I hate what if, it's a human condition thought up by some demon to drive us insane, he's down there laughing his ass off now as we sit here. But still I can't help myself. What if? You know what I don't care, nothing happened at the time, maybe sometime in the future I'll see him again and take that leap - maybe i won't but at this point, to quote "I wish you would make up my bed, so I could make up my mind" (anyone know the song?) My mind will churn and maybe give me some rest now that I've written it all down. You ever think, it's the journey that makes you right for the one you end up with? Maybe that's why so many young marriages don't work - you aren't ready for that person yet. You have to expand, grow, learn first.
Side note - anyone watch this season of gilmore girls? I hate that Luke and Lorelai broke up - she just doesn't seem right with christopher. (sigh)

I'm OBSESSED!!!!!

I can't seem to help myself, I started the Conquering Cables KAL http://conqueringcables.blogspot.com and learned the Irish Hiking scarf pattern for the first project - as well as my first cable pattern EVER, and now I can't stop! First I did the purple pair of fingerless gloves on the bottom left(for mom), then I did the rose colored pair above them(for grandma), then I started the mushroom colored scarf(for granddaddy), then I did the grey pair, then I started the darker pink pair in a longer length for me!First one done second one already cast on. I should have some of my own obsession! But I still have plans for matching scarves for the rose and purple as well as my pink. A friend said I was obsessed, and I didn't believe him, I mean I'm just knitting a little - okay a lot. I'm a slow knitter and have done all this in like a week. I usually don't even finish a project! But I can live with this obsession, it along with Lime and Violet have helped me de-stress lately while trying to cope with this DAMN MOVE!!!
Move update: Mom and Dad will be here Thursday night with the trailer, we load up Friday, have a yardsale sat and sun to get rid of the junk left behind, sit what's left on the curb for Monday pick-up and roll out of here Monday 9am. 2 days travel to VA, and Friday I report to my new job. GOD HELP ME!!!! Just writing it makes me sick to my stomach!

I hurt myself

So I have been packing, and then worked odd shifts, where I wasn't in charge, and ended up on bar - FOR HOURS!!! You may not think that working the bar is physically demanding, but my shoulder has given out. My right arm is fine, but I can no longer lift it up to say touch my head without almost falling to the floor in pain, Sharp stabbing pain radiating from my shoulder across my neck. Great right. I can barely knit. Horror. So I am sitting here reading my email with a heating pad across my shoulder, and neck. I have managed to do 2 things - one is finish the first of a grey pair of fingerless gloves in the Irish hiking pattern, and started a scarf in a mushroom color in the same pattern. Pics here.
Had a bunch of stuff to say and am just to tired and in pain, so I'm for bed.
